  • Email Marketing: How to Build an Email List + Why Businesses Need One

Ah, email marketing. Tried and true, email marketing is still one of the best ways to communicate with customers. Similar to social media, we are all pretty much always plugged into our inboxes because it’s so accessible. We have it on our phone, on our computer, on our refrigerator…yes, you read that correctly. I’m the […]

I used to wake up every day with pretty high hopes for myself. I would go to bed each night, think about the tasks I needed to complete the next day and say to myself…“I’m going to wake up and knock. that. shit. out. No problem.” Yeah, that hardly ever happened. I wasn’t napping, I […]

I talk a lot about the importance of having a website for your business, and it’s not just because I am a total website geek…it’s because it really is important. I don’t know about you, but one of the first things I do when I hear about a new business is look it up online. I want […]

I was in a marketing class recently, and the main speaker was a real estate agent. One of the things she said to the class really stuck with me, and that was: “I would rather have somebody tell me they straight up chose not to refer their friends to me than for somebody to tell […]

There are two types of people in this world: there are Photoshop and Illustrator wizards, and then there are the rest of us. Seriously…it’s difficult.  I fall squarely into the second category, and even though I like to think (key word being “think”) that I have an eye for good design, I have zero talent when it […]

You want to write amazing content and successfully market your business, you really do. But it’s just so hard to come up with good ideas and to come up with them consistently. Been there. I have a Bachelor’s Degree in Marketing, and I still have serious marketing/writing envy at times. Sometimes it feels like everybody has better ideas than […]

When was the last time you sent someone a handwrit When was the last time you sent someone a handwritten card?

I’ve given myself a new goal to write two cards a week, whether they be for a birthday, a holiday, to congratulate someone for something or simply to let them know I’m thinking about them.

And handwritten cards are great for business, too! They’re a wonderful way to show past/current customers and clients that you care about what’s going on in their life AND a great way to stay top of mind. Because repeat business and referrals are what small business dreams are made of, am I right?! ☁️📝💡

But the good news is, 2021 is off to a good start because I finished book one last night, and I’m starting book two tonight 🤩📚

I have a terrible habit of starting a book but not finishing it...and if you look at my book collection, you’ll find numerous ones with a bookmark tucked somewhere near the middle 😬🔖 But I’m working on it!

So now the question is, do I start a whole new book or should I show some love to the ones I abandoned once upon a time before before starting something new? 🙃💡

It’s a new year - have you updated this on your It’s a new year - have you updated this on your website? 👉

I dont know about you, but if I find myself on a website with a copyright date several years old, I can't help but say to myself "wow, has this website really not been updated in X years?" Same goes for emails!

When you're trying to establish yourself as an authority in your industry, you want the information you're putting out into the world to always seem relevant and current. So when someone lands on your site or receives one of your emails, you don't want there to be anything that makes people think the information is outdated and in turn, no longer useful. Or if you own a service-based business, you don't want people thinking that you used to do XYZ back in 2008 when your site was created, but you may or may not anymore.

The devil’s in the details, friends. It’s a quick fix, so get on it! 😆🤓💡
